Guys
As you will no doubt be aware, we've worked very hard revamping the format for this years UK Scenario Awards.
Part of the overhaul includes a completely new nominations and voting system for many of the categories.
Currently, after each event in the calendar is completed, players are grading the event via the Awards website (
www.ukpaintballawards.com) on 15 separate criteria. These grades will determine the winners of the following awards:
Game of the Year
Scenario Site of the Year
Scenario Marshall Team of the Year
However, we will have a new system for determining the following awards:
Team of the Year
Player of the Year
Female Player of the Year
Commander of the Year
Young Player of the Year
Break through Team of the Year
The process will be split into two phases for each of these awards, (1) The Nominations and (2) The Voting.
Nominations for the above awards will come from the team captains after they have consulted with their teams. Voting will be open to everyone.
We will start a thread today on this and other forums asking for contact details for the team captains of any teams in the UK who play at Scenario Paintball events. If your team captains name is not submitted, then your team will be unable to nominate.
In October, we will contact each team captain and ask them to consult with their team and provide a nomination for each of the above awards. Team Captains are not permitted to nominate a member of their own team or their team itself for any category.
We will then assemble the nominations from the team captains and the five people or teams who receive the most nominations will be shortlisted in each category.
Once the short lists have been compiled (based on the nominations from the team captains) then voting will be open to everyone to choose a winner from the short list in each category. The winners will be announced on the night of the awards in November.
After the Awards night, then the full voting data will be viewable via our awards website for anyone who view.
Why the new system? There has been criticism in the past that the nominations and voting process has not been transparent enough.
This new system will mean that everyone has a say in who gets nominated (via your Team Captain) and everyone has the opportunity to vote for a winner from the short list of nominee's. By publishing all voting data (i.e. scores - all votes will remain anonymous) then the process is not only inclusive of everyone but is also completely transparent.
Also, in the past we have witnessed 'campaigning' where people have registered themselves on the forum several times to nominate themselves for awards. By using the Team Captains, this will reduce or eliminate 'campaigning' whilst also giving everyone a greater say in who gets nominated.
All of this will be publically announced closer to the time when voting and nominations take place (i.e. October) but we wanted to give everyone a heads up now. We hope that you'll agree that this new system makes the entire process clearer, inclusive and transparent.
Remember to get your Team Captain to register their contact details in the thread accompanying this announcement to ensure that your team gets a voice in the nominations process.
Any questions - please PM on this user account.
Cheers
Cambo
